Dolmens are megalithic monuments related to funeral rituals, even if, most of the time, they do not overlay any tomb. They are mainly associated to the Bronze Age period. Jordan hosts - or used to host - one of the biggest concentrations of those monuments in the Middle-East. Unfortunatly, this heritage is not properly taken in consideration and even seriously threatened by several factors (see related page in Menu / History / The dolmens, ...) . The below photos have been taken in the areas of Madaba and Ma'in village. It may be that several of those monuements have been destroyed since the time of their picturing.
